...Gone fishing!

At Arthur Bale & Sons, our unique knowledge and experience dates back to the 1890s and developed until when, in 1906, Arthur rented three shops in Cardiff city centre and began trading as Arthur Bale Fishing Tackle Manufacturer and Retailer.

By 1932, the business was really thriving and he was joined in the business by one of his sons. An interesting fact is that, as early forerunners of the recycling trend, they were making Greenhart rods from old mooring baulks in the busy docks and tying flies from hackles that Arthur had specially bred.

Expansion continued until the current day where we now offer the fisherman and angler everything they require for:

All types of fishing: coarse, game and sea.
Baits including maggots, dendrobaena, lobworms, ground baits, pellets and boilies.
Sea baits: live rag, frozen lug, squid, sand eels, crab and mackerel.
(For game and pike anglers :) lobworms, shrimp plus frozen baits; pilchard, sardine and coarse fish.

We also carry an impressive stock of effective clothing for the fisherman that includes waterproofs and flotation suits as well as waterproof boots and waders.
